The report is the third edition of the SDG India Index developed by NITI Aayog to track India's progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It evaluates all States and Union Territories in India across 115 indicators aligned with the National Indicator Framework, covering 16 out of the 17 global goals. The report categorizes regions into four groups—Aspirant, Performer, Front-Runner, and Achiever—to foster competitive and cooperative federalism. In this edition, India’s composite score improved to 66, driven by significant gains in clean water, sanitation, and affordable energy.
